Strata Health was formed over eighteen years ago by healthcare and business professionals committed to finding a way to use technology to manage the flow of patients into and across the care continuum.
Then, and to this day, caregivers are taken away from caring for patients to coordinate care transitions manually by phone, fax, and email. They’re often working with an incomplete picture of their patients’ medical, financial, and personal status, and even fewer relevant details about available downstream options. President & CEO
Peter Smith has over 20 years of Information Technology experience spanning a broad spectrum of industries, technologies, and roles. He is a visionary leader who believes we can radically improve our world using technology, and he inspires those around him help to make that vision a reality.
Currently Peter is the Executive Vice President of Strata Health where he leads a team of talented staff to develop and deliver software that match and connect patients to appropriate health and social services. These software services are in use on three continents and have helped over 1.5 million patients worldwide get the care they need faster, improving the experience for the patients, the clinicians, and health jurisdictions around the world.
Peter is also the President of the Alberta Network for Health Information Exchange (ANHIX) and holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Calgary.
Chief Executive, UK and EMEA (Europe)
Clint Schick brings more than 15 years of business development, integration and logistics experience to his role as leader of Strata Health’s global client relationships. Clint and his team communicate with — and align Strata Health with the different needs of — clients at both the executive and front line levels, and then over-deliver to their expectations. Preceding his tenure at Strata Health, Clint held senior management roles with multinational organizations including William Neilson/Cadbury’s, SC Johnson, Dairyworld Foods and Saputo Inc. As Director of International Business at Dairyworld Foods, Clint increased the company’s global business exposure from five countries to more than 20, and was directly responsible for nine strategic business units that delivered combined revenue of C$200 million. Clint is a recent graduate of Oxford University’s Programme in Continuing Professional Development, and holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) degree from the University of Manitoba.

Kevin Jones is Strata Health’s leader in front line customer service and software implementations. Since joining Strata Health in 2003, Kevin has spearheaded multiple implementations both nationally and internationally spending notable time in the United Kingdom. His breadth of knowledge of the Strata PathWays™ software that is rivalled by few others, and he combines this wealth of technical know-how with an expertise in service delivery to ensure that Strata Health customers receive the high level of customer service that they have come to expect. Kevin heads the client services team who work as the face of Strata Health, interacting with people at all levels within health care organizations through training, support and implementations. His core values of integrity, accountability and hard work set the tone for the services provided by his department. Kevin holds a Bachelor of Science from the University College of the Cariboo.
Don G Schick
Don Schick is the passionate founder and executive visionary behind the Strata Health mission and culture since its beginning in 2001. With a record of consistent business success spanning 35 years, Don’s career includes executive responsibilities within global leaders Procter & Gamble and PepsiCo prior to launching his entrepreneurial career. In 1988, Don co-founded Carlyle Computer Products Ltd. which was twice named one of Canada’s 50 Best Managed Private Companies prior to being acquired by Boise Cascade Corporation. Don’s organizations are consistently known for generating and sustaining cultures focused to delivering on strong strategy and living to high ethical standards while displaying a passion for client service.
Don has been a guest lecturer at Simon Fraser University and at the British Columbia Institute of Technology. He has addressed the Canadian COACH eHealth Conference, the UK Trade eHealth Expo at Cambridge University, and the Australian National eHealth Symposium in Brisbane.
Don – a British Columbia Top 40 Under 40 recipient, graduated from the University of Winnipeg with a BSc Hons and is a long time resident of Vancouver, British Columbia where he lives with his wife, Linda.
Polaris Partners Managing Partner
Bryce Youngren joined Polaris in 2002. He focuses primarily on growth equity investments in the software and Internet markets. Bryce’s investments have included Cushcraft (sold to Laird Group), Alimera Sciences (public: ALIM), National Electronic Attachment (sold to Accel-KKR), Liaison International (sold to Warburg Pincus), Digicert (sold to TA Associates), Strata Health, Cardlytics, Research Now, and Xpressdocs.
Prior to joining Polaris, Bryce was a senior associate at Great Hill Partners, where he sourced and executed investments in SmartMail Services (sold to Deutsche Post) and ManagedStorage International (sold to Incentra Solutions) and served as a director on the boards of both companies.
Previously Bryce served as an analyst for Willis Stein & Partners in Chicago and for Bear Stearns & Co.’s technology investment banking group in New York. Bryce holds an MBA from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania and a BA in economics from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
Marc has over 25 years of Health IT global experience. A pioneer of several technologies that are now standard in the Health and Payer markets in over 49 countries.
Most recently, as Co-Founder of Health Language, which was sold to Wolters Kluwer, he held the position of Executive Vice President, Global Business Development. Prior to this, he served in the same capacity for iSOFT plc, (now part of CSC) and Co-Founder of HCI developer of Cloverleaf (now part of Lawson). Marc also was the Chair of the IHTSDO (“SNOMED”) Affiliate Forum for two terms. Currently, he serves on the Board of AuthentiDate (Nasdaq ADAT) a leading vendor in the Home Monitoring sector.
Howard has extensive strategic and operational health care leadership experience in both Canada and the United Kingdom, having held a number of key President and CEO roles on both continents.
Most recently, Howard served as the President and Chief Executive Officer of the Vancouver Island Health Authority, a fully integrated regional health authority in British Columbia serving over 750,000 individuals with an annual operating budget in excess of $2.0B. Prior to this he was the Chief Operating Officer in Calgary Health Region in Alberta. He is also an Adjunct Professor and is the Principal of the Strategic Consulting firm, Caledonia Solutions Canada Inc.
